You can say for the village of Roussillon that it is a typical Provencal village, with narrow streets and cute colourful houses. But for the landscape just a short distance from the village main square, its hard to imagine that you are still in Provence. “Le Sentier des Ocres”, that orange patch of earth in the vicinity of Roussillon, from where they used that orange colour to paint the facades of village houses, was our first morning station on the way from the magnificent Gordes to the plateau of Valensole. But even though that we were traveling around France, I had a feeling that I am not in Europe but in the canyons of the southwestern part of the United States. 🙂
