A middle-aged frenchmen with a fishing rod in his hand explained me about the beauty of Taketomi island already on the way from the neighbouring Ishigaki island. He was returning to these Yaeyama islands for years. But one day back in France he just simply decided that he had enough of France and Europe and decided to move to this tropical paradise. 🙂 It’s a great day trip to visit Taketomi island. The island is totally flat and because there is no traffic the best way to explore it is to simply rent a bike. The only thing to watch on it are local water buffaloes used by the locals for transport tourists. We stayed on the island for half a day, and despite the fact that we were traveling in late November, the temperatures were still summer like. And you can see one short clip from the seagull’s perspective here.
